Bio
Growing up on stage has been a blessing for Tom Rhodes. From the same comic roots as Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, and so many other "young comic guns" of the 80's, Rhodes exploded out of pubescent idealism and grew into the comedic "philosopher king" that he earned from over 17 years of stand-up experience.
Recognized early on for his dynamic and youthful-style, this led Rhodes to his first appearances on a then "budding", Comedy Central network. Tom signed on to do a series of (six), 30-second image spots to promote the network that showcased Tom's contagious "90's hippie style." These image spots led to the network's first ever development deal. Tom was then given the opportunity to create his own, hour long, special for the network titled: "Viva Vietnam: A White Trash Adventure Tour," commemorating the 20th anniversary to the end of the war. Veterans of the war from both sides along with new-found fans gathered at the premier and the outcome was truly memorable. Tom's hilarious feature broke down old hatreds and rivalries and helped heal the wounds of a war that tore so many lives down. The success of the special grew Tom's career and also enhanced Comedy Central's reputation for innovative and creative programming.
Then, in 1996, Tom brought his style of comedy to prime-time television with his own sitcom on NBC's "Mr. Rhodes." Short-lived as so many sitcoms are, Tom took the experience in stride and returned to the road he grew up on. He has been headlining internationally at premier comedy clubs and colleges, spreading his version of "Rhode's Rules."
